Playing Suited Connectors

Conventional thinking says that small suited connectors should be played only when the flop is good enough to give you the best draw. When the suited connectors are big, like an Ace/King, you can feel a little more confident with an overpair. In short, you should raise. This hand has winning potential.

What do you do though when you are looking at your hand, and staring back at you is a six of hearts and seven of hearts?

This hand is more playable than you may think. Hypothetically speaking, if the flop brings 2 hearts it becomes a great draw, but at this point in time just pay attention to the actions of your opponents. If one of the other players is raising there is a good chance they are working on a flush draw as well.

If it turns out that you hit on the turn, there is always the possibility that you will get another heart on the river. Not likely, but possible. Many a player has lost to a higher straight having only one flush card but it was an ace (or K,Q… doesn’t matter but it’s bigger that your 6 and 7). If you see big card on the flop and it doesn’t give you even a draw – fold. You don’t have anything to work with here.
