When it comes to playing online poker, one of the best ways to learn the game and make money is by playing tournaments. When you play in cash games it is harder to have a stop limit and you may find yourself getting sucked in over your head especially if you are not playing well and are getting frustrated. When you play tournaments you are only in for your buy-in price; that's it. When it comes to tournaments sit and go of have some advantages over multi-table events. This sit and go events are impromptu and begin when everyone has bought in and up to the maximum number of players, typically 2 to 40. In order to maximize your profitability for your playing time, it is important you pick the right sit and go event's.

A sit and go event that has a $2.50 buy in and a $.50 entry fee will cost you $3 a pop. If the event has 40 players, first place may pay $50. Second and third will pay $30 and $20, respectively. This event may take between 90 minutes and 2 1/2 hours to play.

An event with a $2 buy-in and a $.50 entry fee is going to save you half a buck, but may only have 20 players. This event, for first place, will pay around $28. It will take about the same amount of time. Admittedly, there are twice as many players to outlast, but if you are playing fairly tight in the beginning, the more reckless players will clean themselves out and not be an issue.

By sticking to the slightly more expensive events with more players, when you do get in the money you're going to make double or more each time. If you have not much time per week to play, why waste your time on the smaller events when the gap between those in the larger is so small?
