Yankee Superstar Folds Poker Habit
15th of November 2005
When Yankee superstar third baseman Alex Rodriguez was spotted at several of New York City's poker parlors this year, including five nights in a row at one particular club after his team was busted out of the AL playoffs by the Los Angeles Angels, it gave his bosses and the baseball commissioner cause for concern. When a number of those clubs were shut down for illegally taking a cut of the profits, and one club was robbed, their concerns seemed validated. In a recent telephone conference call A-Rod spoke to reporters on the issue.
”Obviously, it wasn't the right thing to do," said Rodriguez. "In retrospect, it is probably a place I shouldn't have gone."
When asked if he was worried his image had been tarnished: “That’s for you to decide," he told them during the telephone conference call. "But I realize, I'll never go back."
