WSOP Made Millionaires
18th of August 2006
Six weeks of the 37th annual World Series of Poker wrapped up recently at the Rio All Suites Hotel Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thousands and thousands of players from around the world came to compete in Sin City to prove their poker superiority, take home a large paycheck, or simply live out a poker-themed dream. When the dust settled and the final event was over, 45 coveted World Series of Poker gold bracelets were handed out to poker pros and poker amateurs, and newly minted poker champions appeared. The Main Event was the biggest draw, with over 8700 players participating, building up the prize pool worth over $82 million. Many new millionaires were minted over the six weeks, including many in their 20s, still in or just out of college, and set for life.
