World Series of Poker Looks to Wimbledon for Inspiration
23rd 2006f June 2006
When asked in a recent interview Jeffrey Pollack from the World Series of Poker singled out the legendary Wimbledon as a source of inspiration for where he envisions the World Series of Poker to be headed in the near future. When a tennis player thinks of Wimbledon, they think of the legendary tournament where titans of the game faced off, such as John McEnroe versus Bjorn Borg, a place where anyone who spends time with a racquet imagines themselves to be one day. The WSOP, already a legend in the poker playing community, is already something of a Wimbledon, but with upstart pretenders like the WPT bringing fresh action to the game, the WSOP has to keep their eye on the ball.
