World Series of Poker Costume Wager
13th of August 2006
Despite the fact that an online poker room tried to have a chimpanzee enrolled in the Main Event at the 37th annual World Series of Poker this year, Poker professionals take their industry seriously: at least, to a point. Two well-known young Poker professionals, Joe Sebok and Gavin Smith, made a famous bet on who would be in the lead in professional player points once the Main Event started. The loser would have to show up each day they participated in the event in the Amazon Room at the Rio Hotel dressed up in a different superhero costume.
The loser appeared to be Sebok, who is the son of another famous poker professional, the Robin Hood of Poker, Barry Greenstein. Showing up as Robin, he's also appeared as Superman and inexplicably as a bear cub wearing a diaper. These antics will surely find their way onto the ESPN broadcasting of the World Series of Poker, which is scheduled to begin at the end of August.
