World Poker Tour Has a Champion
02nd of May 2006
The World Poker Tour has been competing for its fair share of the poker high ever since it debuted four years ago, providing the biggest alternative to the traditional poker television show, the World Series of poker. Wrapping up their fourth season, the World Poker Tour's championship event has drawn to a close and a new champion has been named. Working his way through a record-breaking 605 entrants, each of which are putting up $25,000 for the buy-in, it was a local boy who took first prize and close to $4 million.
Joe Bartholdi, hailing from Las Vegas, was the named champion and winner of the $3.76 million prize. Second-place and $1.9 million went to Davidson Matthew. For the first time the third-place winner also became a millionaire in the World Poker Tour championship.
