Video Poker Will Be Banned in North Carolina
18th 2006f June 2006
It has been a long time coming, but the hammer has finally fallen on video poker in the southern state of North Carolina in the United States of America. A vigorous war has been waged against the video poker industry by the Sheriffs Association and other lawmakers in North Carolina, with accusations that some 95% of video poker machines were being operated illegally. Poker machine operators would allegedly give out cash prizes, which is clearly against the law. Now that Governor Mike Easley has signed a bill into law that will ban the machines by 2007, the debate is over. The video poker industry will be phased out over the next 12 months in North Carolina, with a number of machines available in any store being reduced from three to zero by July 2007.
