US Players Blocked by Online Poker Room
19th 2006f August 2006
It would be hard to blame online poker rooms for blocking their members who hold American addresses considering the volatile state of poker's legality in the United States. One such online poker company chose to go that route, blocking access to their poker tables to any of their members with US addresses. The site, BetFair, has closed their shops to the US players in anticipation of an anti-online poker bill that has passed the US House of Representatives, and only waits approval by the U.S. Senate to make it that much closer to becoming law. Any BetFair or PokerChamps.com players from the US hoping to participate in the Asian Poker Tour will be out of luck, as the only way to qualify for the tour is on those two sites.
