Poker Rooms Use Wi Fi
19th 2006f January 2006
Poker rooms have often been labeled as dank, smoky dens of iniquity, where stogie chomping men in sweaty shirts gamble the milk money with one another. Poker’s image has come a long, long way from those days, but the technology supporting poker play has not advanced quite so fast; that is, until recently.
Using an electronic system called “CardRoomMAGIC” a chain of United Kingdom casinos will be moving into the 21st Century, giving players and poker room managers the ability to keep abreast of tournament rankings and progress in real time. No matter how advanced things have gotten online, poker enthusiasts were still frustrated with long lines and delays in brick and mortar poker rooms. The new system will use Wi Fi handhelds to update large, centralized plasma screens with up to the second tourney info.
