Poker Players Beat Colorado Charges
10th 2006f February 2006
Three poker players had a choice after being arrested in April of last year at an illegal poker game; either donate fifty dollars to a charity of their choice and have the charges dropped, or refuse and take their chances in court. Some twenty other players had the same choice, and opted to put the incident behind them by donating the fifty dollars. Three, however, took their chances in court, and recently won. Nearly fifty SWAT team members entered the Guadala Jarra restaurant in Palmer Lake in April, arresting the poker players and charging them with gambling related crimes. Trish Flake, a Palmer Lake town council member, was one of those arrested, and one of those who refused the offer made because the police charged the players incorrectly. Flake described the scene of officers rushing up stairs with guns drawn and using targeting lasers.
