Poker Players Alliance 100,000 Strong
23rd 2006f August 2006
Over 100,000 poker players want their voices heard by the U.S. Senate, now that the US House of Representatives has passed on HR 4411, the bill proposed to outlaw online poker play. The hundred thousand players all signed a petition initiated by the Poker Players Alliance, an organization founded on the principle of promoting and protecting the rights of poker players around the world. The battleground is America, however, as some 80% of online poker revenue comes out of the U.S. and it is there that the battle lines are drawn deeply. The Poker Players Alliance wants the U.S. Senate to consider that if online poker was made legal, it could be worth some $3 billion to the IRS from taxation of online winnings.
