National Poker League Finals Approaching

This Friday, June 16, kicked off the series of heads up finals of the National Poker League determining who will move on to the final event to a lion's share of cash prizes from NPL. The National Poker League kicked off at the poker room at Caesars Palace casino in Las Vegas where some criticized the timing. The National Poker League began Saturday, June 10, beginning the same time as the Mandalay Bay event, a big circuit on the World Poker Tour. However hundreds of players signed up to play in the $1000 buy in events of the NPL, so it seems it was a success after all. The fact that so many showed up to play despite the temptation of the WPT bodes well for the healthy state of poker in live tournament play.
