National Heads-Up Poker Champ Crowned
17th 2006f March 2006
Ask a hundred professional poker players what the purest form of poker is, and you will likely get more than 95 of them to say "heads up play." When poker is played heads up it means it is down to only two players in a hand, pitting their wits and luck against each other. Add in the drama that is No Limit Texas Hold'em and you get a great show, which is exactly what the folks at NBC had in mind last year with their NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship. Last year it was Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and Phil Hellmuth at the final table, with Hellmuth taking the win. Phil swore he would make it two in a row, but busted out on day one.
Ferguson, however, made it to the final table again, this time against fellow professional poker player Ted Forrest, but could not pull off the victory. Ted Forrest is the 2006 National Heads-Up Poker Champion.
