LaFollette Mayor Busted On Illegal Video Poker
09th 2005f November 2005
LaFollette Mayor may have to get creative when the time comes to defend himself; it seems one of the four businesses shut down recently by Campbell county authorities belongs to him, and on site was an illegal gambling operation in the form of a video poker parlor. Least the Mayor claim ignorance of the operation, the attorney general has, thanks to the undercover work of local news station WAVTE TV, video tape showing the Mayor on site, watching the illegal activity.
In the raid TBI agents seized 14 video poker machines, illegal in Tennessee, and thousands in cash. In April a similar raid was conducted on four businesses, grabbing up a dozen machines. The TBI agents viewed the videotape, along with the attorney general’s office, which is going to convene a grand jury against Jennings, who will likely face felony charges.
