Jamie Gold Wins Championship Event at WSOP
18th 2006f August 2006
He had to outlast over 8700 other World Series of Poker players to do it, but Malibu, California resident Jamie Gold has become the latest champion of the World Series of Poker. Completing a 12-hour final table that was broadcast live for the first time by ESPN cameras in a pay-per-view event, Gold entered the event as the clear chip leader. In fact, he had held a dominating chip position since Day Three of the tournament, a position he chose not to relinquish, carrying it all away to the end where a $12 million prize was waiting. Gold will now perform in the role of Poker ambassador, something already experienced by Australian Joe Hachem because of his then record-setting $7.5 million win last year.
