French Against Online Poker?
04th of December 2006
Many considered the US to be unreasonable when they passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act into law in Mid October of this year, both domestically and internationally. While much of the focus on online poker was zeroed in on the US, other countries were doing similar things with poker legislation, such as France. After the riots in that country in 2005, proposals were leveled at restoring "decency" and some of them want to block financial transactions to poker institutions, the very thing the UIGEA in the US works to do. No laws have been passed yet, but they are under considerations.
