Dutch Boyd Beats Joe Hachem at 2006 WSOP
09th of July 2006
Since the 2002 World Series of Poker, when Robert Varkonyi made a name for himself by appearing out of obscurity to win, the WSOP has been won by relatively unknown players such as Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer. Last year a man appeared at the events from Australia, where he plays poker proffesionaly, to take the crown. Defending champ Joe Hachem is back to prove he is not just a flash in the pan, one-trick pony, and so far is doing a great job. In the $2,500 Short-Handed No-Limit Event 5 he survived the chip bullying of Dutch Boyd, another pro, to make it to the showdown. In the end he failed when a five on the river gave Boyd a second pair and the win.
