Black Under Pressure as Video Poker Ban Passes

It is one thing to speak up for job protection when supporting the video poker industry in North Carolina, a state that has spoken very clearly about its desire to ban the machines, but another thing entirely when you have passed on four previous attempts to ban video poker and are under investigation by state and federal agencies because of it. North Carolina House Speaker Jim Black will be under close scrutiny now that yet another video poker ban has been passed in the Congress, and the question is put out: will Black call a vote in the House.
Black says he will not oppose the vote should it come before him. Dozens of North Carolina sheriffs have spoken out in support of the ban, stating that video poker is too difficult to regulate properly.
