2006 WSOP Breaking Records
05th 2006f July 2006
For the last couple of years the World Series of Poker has been on an exponential upswing, breaking records year after year in terms of attendance and payouts, and this year is no exception. Starting off on June 25th in Las Vegas at the Rio All-Suite Hotel Casino, the WSOP is planning 45 events including the big one, the $10,000 No Limit Hold 'em Championship, which is estimated to field 8,000 players and have a first prize of $10,000. The first week of the competitions have wrapped up and already five new WSOP bracelet winners have been named. While no prize has topped one million besides the Tournament of Champions, many of the payouts have come fairly close. Last year's champion, Joe Hachem, recently finished second in an event, earning another two hundred plus thousand for his "hobby."
