Isildur1 dominates Pot Limit Omaha and 2-7 Triple Draw tables

viktor-blom-isildur1-2010-wsopeWhen you do what you know best, the chances to succeed are much better than when you take chances and venture into uncharted territory. Viktor Blom does both, because he constantly crushes pot limit Omaha and triple draw tables, while taking his chances at Texas hold ’em no limit games. This doesn’t mean that he is a rookie at the latter type of poker, it is just that he competes against some of the best players in the world at nosebleed limits.

When the stakes are as high as they get, it is only natural to assume that the slightly worse player will lose a lot of money in a relatively short period of time. This happened more often than the Swede expected it to do, but the good news is that he offsets the losses at Pot Limit Omaha and 2-7 Triple Draw tables. November has been a remarkable month for Blom and among those who were unfortunate enough to find themselves at the losing end of the sessions were DrugsOrMe, GGoffi and Van Marcus.

Gus Hansen and PostflopAction put their love to the test against the red-hot Swedish player, but unfortunately for them they shared the fate of the aforementioned professionals. They didn’t lose a lot of money, but bled chips gradually and at the end of the session they were down a combined amount of a quarter of a million. Much to his credit, the Danish poker player mitigated his losses at other tables against Ben Tollerene and Kyle Ray to finish $170,000 up.

On the same day, Viktor took his profits to Texas hold ’em tables and this is where things took a turn for the worse, as he lost $40,000 in a matter of hands. Frustrating as it was, the Swedish player knew when to give up and when he called it a day, his profits revolve around the very round number of $200,000. The reason for why he perseveres playing NL games despite being more suited for different types of poker, is that he wants to return to the elite.

Luckily for him, he has the will, skills and resources to pursue this idea even if for the time being it proved to be a very expensive one. He constantly runs into poker professionals of similar skill and due to the fact that he plays overly aggressive, his loses sometimes spin out of control. On the other hand, this is what makes him a special kind of poker Pro, inspiring both online and at live poker players.
